Bebside station set to open to passengers on Sunday The 19th Of October.

The second of Blyth's two new railway stations will open to passengers of the 19th of October. Journey times to Newcastle city centre will be just 29 minutes. More than half a million journeys  have been made on the new line since it's opening in 2024.

Bebside will be the forth station to open so far, following Ashington, Seaton Delaval and Newsham. The two remaining stations at Bedlington Station and Northumberland Park will be completed in early 2026.

Glen Sanderson, leader of Northumberland County Council said

It’s great to be able to confirm the opening of our next station.

“We have purposely designed the station to be as easy as possible to get by foot or by bike, with a brand-new bridge opening and cycle parking at the station.

“The amazing passenger numbers already show just how much need there has been for this line – whether it’s commuters, students heading to college or university or  people travelling for leisure – it's been truly transformational.

“The opening of Bebside Station will no doubt bring a further boost to passenger numbers and we look forward to residents and visitors using this station in the coming weeks.”

It was also announced that the line will soon run trains to The Metro Centre on Sundays, hopefully in time to get the Christmas shopping started.
